The new samsung galaxy tab 2 offers a 1 GHz dual core processor and Android Ice Cream Sandwich onboard

Samsung has announced a new tablet for the Indian market under its new product line – the Galaxy Tab 2.
The new Samsung Galaxy Tab 2, 310 will come in 7 inch screen size with Google Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. The device was showcased and announced during the Mobile World Congress that took place in Barcelona, Spain earlier this month.

The Galaxy Tab 2, 310 features a dual core 1 GHz processor coupled with a 1 GB of DDR 2 RAM for better multitasking and performance. The Tab 2 features the all new PLS (Plane to line switching) technology based display. This technology allows the screen to display better colours, contrast and even wider screen viewing angles than the existing IPS technology based displays. The 7 inch display features a capacitive touch and a 1204 x 600 pixel native resolution.

The tablet features HSPA+, HSPA+ 3G connectivity allowing it to get data download speeds of up to 21 Megabits per second which will come in real handy while accessing social media websites or while sharing content on various websites online. The tablet is powered by the latest Android ICS 4.0 operating system that offers superb functionality as a tablet but it will miss out on regular communications which the older 7 inch Samsung tablets offer. The Galaxy Tab 2, 310 features a 3 megapixel rear camera capable of video recording in HD 720p resolution while it also gets a VGA camera for video conferencing as well.

Along with regular GPS (Global Positioning System) based tracking service, the Tab 2 will also feature Russian GLONASS satellite based tracking system for better and accurate tracking. The GLONASS was earlier adopted by Sony Ericsson as well for its smartphone devices.

The tablets will be available in the Indian market in the month of April and will be made available in 16 GB and 32 GB variants in both WiFi and 3G connectivity variants as well. More details on the pricing and availability of the device are expected to be announced during the launch of the Galaxy tab 2 device in India, so stay tuned.
